After a crazy week of
work and stresses, it’s important to Visualize and plan for some real
rewards/breaks. If circumstance has rendered you powerless to literally take
flight (like me) to where you'd like to go, then visualization becomes a skill
to muster well :D One of the tricks of visualization is the ability to paint in
vivid detail the imagination processes of your mind, which is developed with
practice. Collecting imagery is the first step be it POSTCARDS, jpegs, magazine
cuttings or photos (Simply as passing your travel agent on the way home tonight
and picking up brochures to destinations that draw you in). In sport we watch
on constant replay videos of technique/tactics in play even of ourselves and
then hit reply to practice - IT works! If relying on visualization to take 5 or
have a mini mental holiday escape - collect and surround yourself with imagery.
Sometimes even sounds, like recordings of ocean waves or a river bed or even
music of ethnicity can even heighten the sense of being there. The same goes
for scents like pine essential oil being burnt or coconut incense wafting off.
Once you have your imagery have a good look then close your eyes and put
yourself in that picture, paying special attention to all your senses. Take
this mental break for as long as you can - seriously the mind and body will believe
and react as though you're there :D Apart, from visualization - collecting
brochures and postcards to stick on your fridge or a common 'I see' everyday
spot that will remind you of the break you look forward to... Happy travels
